While I was making this wall quilt for my sister
Helen.....
I thought how the little pieces of fabric reminded me
of sea glass......
|
Zakka inspired.... |
against the background of sandy coloured fabric......
and its wavy quilting.....
|
I left my Hera marker at home.....a long fingernail did the trick! |
And as it was made down by the beach the name
seems perfect!
It's now living happily on Helen's wall....
Final dimensions- approx. 20 inches by 60 inches
A second little project was also completed....
a couple of pretty placemats...
complete with red ric rac and binding...
Overall a successful weekend of sewing....
What have you been working on?
Happy days!
SUZ

ReplyDeleteBeautiful placemat too!
Love, love, LOVE the wall hanging! I feel an urgent need to go and make something similar right now! You are right about the seaglass, I collect seaglass (living by the beach I can't help and pick it up!) and it would be so great to match the colours of the glass I have... If you will me allow you to copy you (ulitmate form of flattery!) I will give it a whirl !
ReplyDeleteThat wall hanging is fab! It's simple but so very effective!

ReplyDeleteI love the simple beauty of this wall quilt. The coloured fabrics really do sparkle like the coloured glass pieces you find along the beach. It's really beautiful Suz. Your sister must be so please to have some of your art hanging on her wall. Your kitchen ric rac mats are so fun too.
