At the End of the (Cross)Road!

Yes, I am happy to say "Crossroads" is finished!

This is the biggest quilt I've ever machine quilted on

my home sewing machine....

And it is a monster....

83" by 69"!

(Although I have just read someone describe a 79" by  63" quilt as 'perfect lap

size'.....that's one big lap!)

It made it very difficult to photograph on my own!

I'm sure there were passers-by wondering what I was

doing,

trying to toss it over a fence....

or the playground equipment!

I quilted in a simple grid, straight line quilting....

to match the backing!

This quilt was to be a Christmas present for family

friends....

but with plenty more winter weather still to come....

I think it might be going to its new home real soon!

Otherwise I might snuggling under it and it won't be

going anywhere!

Happy days!

SUZ

  1. That such a wonderful quilt. Love the blues and yellow... and the striped fabric really sets it off. I can certainly understand why it's not going anywhere :)

  3. Hahaha! I love the picture of you trying to toss it over playground equipment! What a fantastic quilt and a fantastic gift! I think this quilt design is so remarkable because of your fabric choices. You definitely kicked it up a couple of notches - if not through the ceiling! The bold colors you used just scream exciting and then adding the high contrast stripes was a brilliant move! I love it!

  7. Lap quilt!!
I think it looks great and straight lines are definitely the way to go on the big ones! (OK and the small ones if you a scaredy cat like me!).

  15. What a beautiful quilt! I keep forgetting that a playground would be a great place to photograph a quilt. Oh, wait...I have to finish quilts first before they are ready for photographing....

Anyway, I really like this quilt!
