Yes, I am happy to say "Crossroads" is finished!
This is the biggest quilt I've ever machine quilted on
my home sewing machine....
And it is a monster....
83" by 69"!
(Although I have just read someone describe a 79" by 63" quilt as 'perfect lap
size'.....that's one big lap!)
(Although I have just read someone describe a 79" by 63" quilt as 'perfect lap

It made it very difficult to photograph on my own!
I'm sure there were passers-by wondering what I was
doing,
trying to toss it over a fence....
or the playground equipment!
I quilted in a simple grid, straight line quilting....
to match the backing!
This quilt was to be a Christmas present for family
friends....
but with plenty more winter weather still to come....
I think it might be going to its new home real soon!
Otherwise I might snuggling under it and it won't be
going anywhere!
Happy days!

That such a wonderful quilt. Love the blues and yellow... and the striped fabric really sets it off. I can certainly understand why it's not going anywhere :)
ReplyDeleteOh it looks great!! Will be a fab snuggly quilt for the rest of winter.
ReplyDeleteAren't quilts a pain to photograph! You did well!!
Hahaha! I love the picture of you trying to toss it over playground equipment! What a fantastic quilt and a fantastic gift! I think this quilt design is so remarkable because of your fabric choices. You definitely kicked it up a couple of notches - if not through the ceiling! The bold colors you used just scream exciting and then adding the high contrast stripes was a brilliant move! I love it!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love the use of black & white as part of the grid!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt has turned out so well. Congrats on handling the big monster through the machine. The photos look just fine!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful finish and good for you for quilting it yourself!
ReplyDeleteLap quilt!!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great and straight lines are definitely the way to go on the big ones! (OK and the small ones if you a scaredy cat like me!).
That looks incredible! Loving the colour and pattern! What rude strangers seeing you struggling and not even offering to help hold it! =D
ReplyDeleteYay! Congratulations on your beautiful finished quilt!!! It's absolutely wonderful!! Great photos too, It's fun seeing peoples reactions when out and about photographing quilts.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt! And I love all of your photos - I am always trying to think of new and interesting ways to take photos of quilts too!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! A finish...and a very nice one at that! I especially like the stripes...so clever! Congrats, Susan, on getting that big lap quilt done on your HSM!!
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt Suz, such bold bright colours and great design.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on quilting it yourself and the finish!
Great finish. Not sure how you wrestled a beast that big through your machine though!

ReplyDeleteLovely quilt it is alway nice to have a finish. I often wonder what people think when I am taking quilt photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I keep forgetting that a playground would be a great place to photograph a quilt. Oh, wait...I have to finish quilts first before they are ready for photographing....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really like this quilt!
