Jazz Hands

Thank you all for your kind comments about my 


Jazz Hands EPP blocks!

I am slowly working on these...

Five down, seven to go!

Each block has 72 kite pieces in each 12" (point-to-

point) block, so it is quite slow going!

I have been toying with some ideas about how I 

might join the blocks?

The MO2 book, which I am basing my quilt on, has 
two options.....

a long strip....

or a diamond?

And I have also 'pinned' a triangular version...

I purchased a piece of Kaffe as a possible fabric 

choice?


I'd love to hear your thoughts on fabric and setting....

In the meantime, I have another set cut out ready to 


go!

Now I just need some more papers!

Searching.....

In an effort to find my missing mojo I sat down and 

did some book browsing....

Not quilting or sewing books but.....

Botanical Art books!

I love botanical art.....

I find the colours and designs inspiring!

I have some lovely pieces of botanical art I 

treasure....

And this is a cross stitch of poppies I made in 

my 'cross stitch days'!

In fact, I even took a watercolour class a few years 

back....

I think I'd like to go back to it one day,

when I have the time and space.....

and the mojo!

Improvised Quilting!

I have never really felt comfortable with improvised 

piecing...

So I thought I'd try my hand at improvised quilting!

Sort of a straight meander....

I just began sewing, left, down, back, right, across....


wherever my machine took me!

At least I can say this mini is finished!

Constructive criticism eagerly anticipated!

coming along......

I've made a zippy pouch for a good cause.......

And another Jazz Hands block is almost finished......

I just need to get my hands on some more papers!

Sunday Stash....

A small piece to be added to the backing....

of my "Summer Stars" quilt....

which is now basted ready for hand quilting!

A piece because it was pretty....

And the piece-de-resistance....

An amazing Lecien linen called isso ecco & ♥

No plans for this yet, enjoying just looking at it!

Crossroads!

My latest quilt top, "Crossroads", is complete....

and can now be revealed!

It is a little more subdued than my usual style,

 (which has been given the MrPnP 'seal of approval')

It has been made with the recipients' tastes in mind!

I offered to test out a new pattern, released today by 

Elizabeth @

"Don't Call Me Betsy"

and added my own twist to it...

the black and white sashing strips are meant to 

represent a railway line or zebra crossing!

 The feature print is a cute car print linen surrounded by green (the grass), 

blue (the sea) and gold (the sand) fabrics!

This is one big quilt, measuring nearly 70 by  

86 inches!!

This will be given to family friends at Christmas!

It might take me that long to pluck up the courage to 

quilt it!

I've been distracted....

Partly by Melbourne's blast of Wintery weather....

One of my favourite hankies!

but probably more by....

my son's contribution to our Mother's Day afternoon tea!

I only had a little bit, honest!

In the meantime, this is beginning to evolve....

It started life as cushion....

But I was distracted by something I saw here....

Has it really...

been nearly a week since I blogged?

Yes, mainly because the work/play balance has been seriously out of whack!

Needless to say there has been little sewing....

But plenty of ironing of these....

And as time is of the essence...

I'm off to play with these!

Always WIPS....

We all have WIPS, don't we?


Some of us just have more than others!


Here is a small sample of my current pile...

Firstly a sneak peak of a secret quilt I am making...

and all the 630 pieces cut!

Next, a pretty spotted fabric and pom-poms patiently waiting...

to be made into a cushion!

And finally, my fourth "Jazz Hands" EPP block is complete.....

I'm beginning to think how I might piece this together,

and what fabric I might use?

Like most, I flit between projects depending on my mood and the time available!


Time is tight today so I hand piecing more kite shapes.....
