Liberty and Kantha

I have a reasonably large stash of Liberty fabrics.

So when I saw a Liberty + Kantha stitch-along happening on Instagram, the idea really appealed to me.

I cut two and a half inch squares and pieced two panels to make a 241 tote bag from Noodlehead.

I backed each piece with some fusible batting and started stitching.

It was the perfect holiday project, in the car and in the sunshine!

I prepared the side and pocket panels before I went on holiday.

The glorious sun shining through really inspired me!

I was excited to return home and piece the bag together....

And before I knew it, it was finished!

It turned out just as I imagined!

Happy days!

Midnight Square Dance

....is the name of my latest finish!

(I changed it slightly because I found a pattern name by its

original working title!)

Straight line quilting in a grid formation

Here are some close-ups I shared on IG....

I added some hand quilting to the white stars

I have had this quilt finished for a while now,

but wanted to get some 'glamour' shots while I was on

holiday in north-east Victoria.

Bright is always beautiful during Autumn....

and I did have my trusty quilt holder with me!

While we were away, I visited a friend who had found this

great backdrop for me.....

so we couldn't resist a couple more photos!

This is the old Wandiligong cool store....

No plans for a Grand Designs renovation here, I'm afraid!

I am giving this to a dear friend soon.

Sewing, Knitting, Quilting

A panel of Liberty patchwork for a 241 tote bag.....

which I'm hoping to hand quilt!

Heart blocks for Christchurch....

and blocking the hand knitted baby blanket, in

preparation for backing.

And my next knitting project waiting to be cast on

Finally, I am

toying with the idea of making something for

the

Elaine's Legacy

I decided this quilt should be donated,

so when a work colleague said that her

eighty-six year old Auntie Elaine was holding an

afternoon tea for the Cancer Council....

I knew who I would give it too!

I had a great time FMQ those floral designs in the

large white spaces.

I love the texture.....

even before I washed it!

And so crinkly after!

Oh, yes Elaine is the auntie's name!

And #4 for 2019!

Now onto #105!

Meadowland

I've been busy making quilt tops!

I'd seen the Meadowland popping up all over my

Instagram feed and decided I needed to

dive in!

I showed some of those initial blocks back here

The blocks are 16" finished.

Today, I basted it....

Finished size 48" by 64"

I've also made a scaled down version...

with blocks finishing at 12".

For this version, I went a little more scrappy for the

corner blocks....

and added some thin sashing and cornerstones.

I think both designs have their merits,

Finished size 53" square
although this second one is my favourite!

Have you ever made a different version of a pattern?

I'd love to know.

Happy sewing!

Quilting brings people together!

Many longtime followers of my blog will remember

this quilt,

made with the help of my bee buddies in the

United States.

I call it "Words with Friends"!

This is another version made by Heather in Canada!

She had emailed me back in October wanting

permission to 'copy' it!

I don't know where the saying came from, so I have

no rights to it!

She did an awesome job, didn't she?

The coast, coffee and a concert

As you may realise from the title,

there has been little in the way of sewing these last

few weeks!

There's been a short sojourn at the beach.....

Coffee in the country in a quirky cafe!

 And an Eagles concert!

I did happen to visit one of my quilts.....

And I finished Mr Bear for my grandson!

I'm hoping, with the approaching long weekend, I'll

have some serious sewing time!

Happy days!
