I would also move the lighter block at the bottom left over to the bottom right. I think it would be more balanced there. I love the idea of simple sashing with cornerstones. Beautiful sampler. I think it would really pull it all together and give each block it's own little stage, if you know what I mean.Kirsty @ Bonjour Quiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05177991521347107396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7230998891034875551.post-85310285341927008632011-06-06T16:05:31.731+10:002011-06-06T16:05:31.731+10:00I may be the only one, but I think the mosaic bloc...I may be the only one, but I think the mosaic block is a bit discordant in the overall scheme.
The other blocks are very structured and planned so they flow well from one to the other until you get to that one which is much more free styled and just doesn't quite seem to blend in (I think perhaps you see it too or you wouldn't be asking?).
I also think that a simple sashing would be perfect for separating the blocks to be appreciated individually while tying the whole thing together.
It is so lovely though and I love the colors.Anitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04649138075241823775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7230998891034875551.post-30017650679533860482011-06-06T11:22:15.233+10:002011-06-06T11:22:15.233+10:00You have done such a fabulous job. I think the mosaic block tilts down and to the right...so I am thinking by putting it in the first spot...you are directing the eye downward and to the center. Just a thought...but I do love it...the center is just spectacular!Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09101540158088271850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7230998891034875551.post-31546439023020953992011-06-06T08:02:44.709+10:002011-06-06T08:02:44.709+10:00IMHO . . .the mosaic block balances the block oppo...IMHO . . .the mosaic block balances the block opposite it in the upper left corner nicely. The one block that is not shining for me is the light one in the bottom left corner. Not sure how to handle that one but I think sashing with squares at the intersections (I know it has a name but it has left me at this moment) would show off all of your wonderful blocks!!! Love your color choices and the Eiffel Tower print it fantastic!!Michelle McCrayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10280382871176284583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7230998891034875551.post-61826915478190068712011-06-06T07:56:55.971+10:002011-06-06T07:56:55.971+10:00Your blocks look wonderful all together!! I like the mosaic block and think it has a deserved place in a modern sampler, but you have to like it.Rachaeldaisyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15437603769773251690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7230998891034875551.post-66966862696441651132011-06-06T07:33:00.975+10:002011-06-06T07:33:00.975+10:00I love your block sampler.... let it languish for ...I love your block sampler.... let it languish for a little while whilst you look at it and decide....
HugzBubzRugzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15470267737721805408noreply@blogger.com
