I didn't want to finish...

Do you ever make a quilt and

not want to be finished with it?

Machine quilted but not bound...

That's how I felt about my Scrappy Sandwiches!

I had machine quilted with twin lines

on either side of the white strip

AND bound it.

when I decided it needed,

and I wanted to...

hand quilt it too!

I used (almost)the last of my

Aurifil #28 wool thread to quilt

the centres of the sandy coloured squares!

And I am really glad I did!

Running bugs on Scrappy Sandwiches!

I love it!

Quilt details:
Scrappy Sandwiches (tutorial here) 56" x 70"
Backed with "Glimma" in Mineral Dust
Pieced, machine and hand quilted in Aurifil thead
Bound with Saffron Craig "Running Bugs"

Happy sewing!

This is such a wonderful quilt!! I love the balance of colourful scrappy and neutral order. Hand quilting always add that special magic. Is this a gift or are you keeping this one?

Yes absolutely (that mini I finished on Sunday was a perfect example of a quilt I didn't want to finish!) I completely understand with this one Susan, it is absolutely gorgeous - and the hand quilting is the perfect finishing touch.

Aaah, it's turned out so well! The centres are just perfect, that little bit of white sets off the scraps so nicely. I can see why you're sad to finish. Might have to make another one...I'm sure you have enough scraps ;)

Wow! This did turn out sooooo well! It is so fun with all the scrappy bright colors and then the neutral sand colored squares! Just genius! The backing is perfect in every way! I do hope this is a keeper...it is so good. A big pat on the back for you!

Nope - never wished for a quilt not to be over. But I have wished for ones to be already finished without me having to do it. lol. Got a flimsy and a back to baste and quilt but can't be bothered right now.

I can see why you've enjoyed this one though... Very pretty, Suz! Your points turned out so well, too - impressed!

I must say that I absolutely LOVE this. I think I'm going to make one of my own with my DS scraps. That is... once I complete a DS quilt and have scraps leftover! (Which means, count me in 3 years from now at the rate I'm going!) GREAT JOB! (charlottesgraceforacure[at]gmail[dot]com)

This looks terrific, esp. with the combo of the machinne and the hand quilting. I love the pop of those brights, striding across the quilt!

Good luck with your teaching--don't you start again this month?
