Montserrat, Spain!

Indulge me please!

I work at a College who reveres St Ignatius of Loyola!

As he was born in Spain, this little holiday will feature some of the places significant to him.

Montserrat was one of them!

Amazing!

Yes we (the Royal 'we') drove up that road!!

We picked up our car @ Barcelona Airport and this was our first stop....

We arrived quite late in the day so it was relatively quiet.

The weather was wonderful and so were the views!

It was also amazing to see a place I had heard so much about!

The Black Madonna, a statue of the Virgin Mary, was where St Ignatius worshipped and was so converted to his new and holy life, devoted to God.

An amazing sculpture!

All this was achieved while adjusting to life on the other side of the road!

Thank goodness for the GPS!!!

From here we drove

...some 120km to Lleida!

Where we found a bed and some fabulous tapas for dinner!

And that was our first day in Spain!

Wonderful!

Happy days!

SUZ

I love traveling along. We visited Montserrat in 2006. Our son was living in Germany and came to meet us in Barcelona, where we were vacationing. We went to Montserrat with him, which was pretty cool, since he was a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. I love going to places like this. Touching the Black Madonna was another thing we can tick off our religious pilgrimage list.

Fantastic photos Suz, looks like you guys are having a fab time. Driving on the other side of the road sure is an adjustment, especially when there is a huge drop off the side of a mountain. Those beers would have been well deserved!

Oh wow! Gorgeous! I am so enjoying this trip! The statue of the Virgin Mary is so beautiful...I can only imagine how fantastic it was to see that. Really, I had no idea how gorgeous this area is....I had the opportunity to stay in Montserrat after college...now I wish I had made that happen!

Montserrat is fantastic. Did you try the cablecar? You can see the cables on the 4:th pic.
Enjoy your stay in Spain.
