Tuesday Treasure- Singer Sewing Machine

I'm feel so lucky owning this beautiful Singer sewing machine....

A friend was giving it away after his mother died recently.

I was more than happy to give it a good home....

It is such a beauty!

The cabinet needs some loving.....a good stain and polish!

(A job for the up-coming holidays, I suspect!)

But I love its black shiny body

its sleek lines and wonderful colourful embellishments!

And this number?  I'm not sure what that's about ....

And the instruction books are in pristine condition...

I don't know whether I will try quilting on it though....

I think I will just admire it and love it...

For a few more years at least.

I'm linking back to Melody's Tuesday Treasures, so pop over and see what else is

being 'treasured' this week....

Happy Sewing!

Hi Suz, that number on the machine is your serial number. Using that number and the information provided by Singer, on page 8 here: http://www.singerco.com/pdf/SINGER_Y_nos.pdf then you will see that your new baby is a Singer, Model 66K and was manufactured on 28 January 1929 at the factory called Kilbowie in Clydebank, Scotland, and that there were 100 000 of that model made.

I just love the shape of those old machines. My mum had one that I learnt on - the treadle and the belt drive. I think I love my modern machine more:D

What a beautiful machine you are so blessed to have received it - in fact I have one just like it and would you believe have forgotten about it. It is always closed up and trying to remain protected. It was a gift from my ex-husband, one of the very few things he ever gave me.
I just love the Egyptian decals on them and I had to have mine after a trip to Egypt.
What great information from Wendz too.
Enjoy your beautiful machine and thanks for the reminder :-)
